Xenical 120mg Capsules (84 capsules)
Xenical pills contain Orlistat, a drug that binds to dietary fat to prevent it being absorbed. The effects include preventing the absorption of around one third of the fat from the food you eat, which passes through your digestive system and is passed in your bowel motions.
Xenical 120mg capsules contain the medicine Orlistat. Xenical was first developed by Roche and became available in 1998. It has since been used safely for 20 years to help people suffering with obesity to lose excess weight where dieting and exercise alone has been unsuccessful. Xenical pills can be prescribed for patients who have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or over, or 28 or over if there are other risk factors present, such as heart disease, diabetes or smoking.
It can be hard to avoid fat completely in the diet – and even if that were an option, it would not necessarily be recommended. Xenical works by preventing around one third of the fat consumed as part of your normal diet plan from being absorbed. It does this by binding to dietary fat present in the gut and preventing it from passing through the gut walls into the bloodstream. Instead, it remains in the gut and passes through your system.
Xenical capsules should be combined with a healthy, low calorie diet and exercise plan to maximise the effects. When used in this way, it can help you to lose an extra 1-pound for every 2-pounds you lose naturally. In clinical trials, almost twice as many patients who received Xenical achieved an average weight loss of 10 percent or more of their body weight in one year, compared to those on diet plan alone.
The patent on branded Xenical has now expired, allowing you to buy generic Orlistat 120mg capsules as well as branded Xenical. It is also available to buy over-the-counter at a lower 60mg dose.
Generic medicines are essentially copies of brand-name drugs – with the same strength and effects – but they are often cheaper because they don’t come under the brand patent. Usually, generic alternatives come onto the market after a patent has expired.
You should take one Xenical 120mg capsule up to three times daily, with or up to one hour after each main meal. If you eat a fat-free meal, you skip a meal or have a small snack instead, you do not need to take Xenical, as there will be no fat to absorb.
